J.B. Hixson
Pastor, professor and author, writing in the Free Grace tradition on the content of the gospel and on what Scripture says lies ahead.
About J.B. Hixson
Dr. J.B. Hixson is the founder and president of Not By Works Ministries and Lead Teaching Pastor at Plum Creek Chapel in Sedalia, Colorado. He holds a B.A. from Houston Baptist University (1990), a Th.M. from Dallas Theological Seminary (1993) and a Ph.D. from Baptist Bible Seminary (2007). He has served pastorates in Illinois and Texas, taught at the college and graduate levels, serves on the adjunct faculties of several colleges and seminaries, and speaks at the Pre-Trib Research Center's annual study group.
He writes and teaches in the Free Grace tradition: that eternal life is the free gift of God, received by faith alone, apart from works, and held securely by the believer, and that the gospel has a clear and non-negotiable content. His book Getting the Gospel Wrong is a book-length call to recover that content against a reductionism he argues has blurred it across evangelicalism.
Free Grace and the Provisionism this platform teaches are close kin: both hold that salvation is a free gift received by faith and that the believer is eternally secure. This page presents Dr. Hixson in his own tradition, Free Grace, and keeps the distinction rather than collapsing the two.

Thread Connection
Dr. Hixson's work meets three of the Seven Threads. Thread 3, the royal trajectory: What Lies Ahead follows the coming King through the prophets to Revelation. Thread 5, the dispensational map: he reads prophecy literally, keeps Israel and the Church distinct, and holds a pre-tribulational rapture. Thread 7, whosoever will: his work on the gospel insists that eternal life is offered freely to anyone who believes, and that the message must be stated clearly.
