What happened at Berea in the Bible?

The believers here were "more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so" (Acts 17:11). They did not take Paul's word for it; they checked it against the text. It is the pattern for every reader since.
