What is the unpardonable sin? Have I committed it?
Blaspheming the Holy Spirit (Matt 12:31-32): attributing the Spirit's work in Christ to Satan, done by hardened enemies who saw His miracles and called them demonic. If you fear you have committed it, that fear is evidence you have not.
What the text states
Jesus spoke this to Pharisees who watched Him cast out demons and said He did it "by Beelzebub" (Matt 12:24). It was the settled, willful rejection of the Spirit's plain testimony to Christ. The person worried he has committed it shows by that worry a tender conscience the Spirit is still working on; the hardened blasphemer has no such fear. The one unforgivable sin is the final rejection of the only One who forgives.
Some read it as any grievous sin, causing needless terror. We hold, with the context, that it is the specific willful attribution of Christ's works to Satan, and a troubled seeker has not done it.
