How to read the Book

You don't have to read it cover to cover to begin. Here's a simple way in.

  • Start with the Gospel of John, it was written so that you would believe (John 20:31), the clearest place to meet Jesus.
  • Then read Genesis, where the whole story begins.
  • Read a little, slowly: one chapter is plenty. Ask: what does this show me about God? About myself?
  • Take it in its plain, ordinary sense; let the clearer passages explain the harder ones.
  • Use the reader's tools when you want to go deeper.

You've walked the path. You know what you believe, why you're secure, the story you're in, and where it's going. There's one thing left: open the Book and meet Him in it.
