How to read the Book

You don't have to read it cover to cover to begin. Here's a simple way in.

• •Start with the Gospel of John, it was written so that you would believe (John 20:31), the clearest place to meet Jesus.
• •Then read Genesis, where the whole story begins.
• •Read a little, slowly: one chapter is plenty. Ask: what does this show me about God? About myself?
• •Take it in its plain, ordinary sense; let the clearer passages explain the harder ones.
• •Use the reader's tools when you want to go deeper.
