Mount Moriah
“And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together.”

Abraham was told to offer Isaac on a mountain in the land of Moriah. Isaac carried the wood up the hill himself. When Isaac asked where the lamb was, Abraham said, “God will provide himself a lamb” (Gen 22:8), and He did: a ram caught in a thicket.
Two thousand years apart, two things happened on the same ridge. Solomon “built the house of the LORD at Jerusalem in mount Moriah” (2 Chron 3:1), so the temple stood where the ram died. And Calvary is the same range of hills, where a Son who carried His own wood up the slope was offered and not spared: “he that spared not his own Son” (Rom 8:32). Abraham named the place “Jehovah-jireh,” the LORD will provide (22:14), and on that exact ground, God provided Himself the Lamb the ram only stood in for.
