Suffering, obedience, and trusting God

Elisabeth Elliot

Elisabeth Elliot (1926 to 2015) was a missionary, author and speaker. In 1956 her husband, Jim Elliot, was one of five missionaries killed in Ecuador while trying to reach the Waodani people, and she later went, with her young daughter Valerie, to live among the people who had killed him.

For thirteen years she opened her daily radio program, Gateway to Joy, with the promise that underneath are the everlasting arms.

The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms: and he shall thrust out the enemy from before thee; and shall say, Destroy them.
