MelitaSyracuseRhegium

What happened at Melita in the Bible?

The island of the shipwreck, where the escape became a sign. A viper fastened on Paul's hand as he laid sticks on the fire, and the islanders waited for him to drop dead; instead "he shook off the beast into the fire, and felt no harm" (Acts 28:5), and he healed the sick of the island before sailing on to Rome.
