Colossians 1:27

Paul says the mystery hidden for ages has been revealed, and then names it in four words: Christ in you. Not Christ above you. Not Christ before you. Not Christ for you, as important as that is. Christ in you. The preposition is en: the same en of en autō, the same en of every in-Christ statement in the letters. The union is mutual. You are in him; he is in you. This is not poetic language for moral influence. It is the description of the most radical personal proximity possible: the life of the risen Son of God inhabiting the inner man of the believer. And Paul calls this the hope of glory. Not one hope among many. The hope. The entire expectation of what God is going to do with you rests on this: that the one who is your life is already dwelling within.

Let the union I have in Christ be more real to me today than anything I can feel with my hands.
