One Woman's Decision
Ruth 1:16-17 is the purest single statement of Thread 2 in the entire OT. The election is not ethnic destiny. It is not sealed by bloodline. It is covenant identification: anyone who makes Ruth's declaration belongs. A Moabite, legally excluded from the assembly of Israel for ten generations, is woven into the heart of the covenant people through her declaration. The Bible does not stop to adjudicate the legal mechanism. It simply tells us what happened: she chose, she declared, she was included. And the line runs from her through Boaz through Obed through Jesse through David to Bethlehem.
