The Cycle of Refusal and Rescue
Judges is the most structurally repetitive book in the canon: deliberately so. The cycle runs seven times: Israel forsakes God, God hands them over to an oppressor, Israel cries out, God raises a deliverer, the deliverer saves them, they forsake God again. The cycle is not cynical. It is Thread 1 in its most persistent form: a God who keeps rescuing people who keep refusing Him. The refusals are genuine (Thread 4). The rescues are genuine (Thread 1). The pattern continues because the character that drives it does not change.
