I Will Draw All Men: The Universal Drawing
John 12:32 is the verse that answers the exegetical question John 6:44 raises. In John 6:44, Christ says no one can come unless the Father draws him: using helkyo. Calvinist exegesis reads that drawing as irresistible and selective. John 12:32 uses the same verb and names its scope: panta (all). I will draw ALL people to myself. If the drawing of John 6:44 were irresistible and selective, John 12:32 would need to read I will draw some people to myself. It does not. The drawing is universal. The coming is genuine and conditional, because in the same discourse Christ says whoever believes is not condemned, and whoever does not believe is condemned already. The whoever is real both ways.
