The Son of Man
Daniel 7 is the most detailed single vision of the coming Kingdom in the Hebrew Bible. The four beasts represent four successive world empires. The Ancient of Days sits on the throne. And then: one like a son of man comes with the clouds of heaven. He approaches the Ancient of Days and is given dominion, glory, and a kingdom: an everlasting dominion that shall not pass away. Jesus uses this exact language at His trial before the Sanhedrin: 'hereafter you will see the Son of Man seated at the right hand of Power.' The high priest tears his robes because he understands what Jesus is claiming.
