Caught Up Together
1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 is Thread 3's most explicit pre-tribulational text. Paul writes to a young Gentile church grieving their dead, and answers their confusion about those who have died before the Lord's return. The sequence is precise: the dead in Christ rise first, then those alive are caught up (harpazo) together with them in a welcoming procession (apantesis) toward the returning Lord. The not destined for wrath of 5:9 confirms: the church's removal precedes the tribulation period.
