What is the mark of the beast? Is 666 here now?
The mark of the beast is a coming requirement during the tribulation to worship the beast and receive his mark to buy or sell (Rev 13:16-18). It is a future event, tied to the antichrist's rule, not present technology.
What the text states
"He causeth all... to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: and that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark" (Rev 13:16-17). It comes when the beast rules, mid-tribulation, and taking it is a damning act of worship (Rev 14:9-11). The number is "the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six" (13:18). Because the church is raptured before the tribulation, believers today will not face the mark; those who come to faith during the tribulation will.
Many identify current technologies (chips, cards, digital currency) as the mark. We hold the mark is future and inseparable from worshipping the antichrist during his reign; no present technology qualifies, because the beast is not yet revealed.
