What is the Great White Throne judgment?
The Great White Throne is the final judgment of the unsaved dead, after the millennium, where they are judged by their works and cast into the lake of fire (Rev 20:11-15). Believers are not judged here; they were raptured and rewarded long before.
What the text states
"I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God... and they were judged every man according to their works" (Rev 20:12). It occurs after the thousand years (20:7), and only the lost stand here; the saved were caught up at the rapture and their works tried at the bema. The books are opened, and "whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire" (20:15). No one here is saved by works; the works measure the degree of judgment, and the absence from the Book of Life is the ground of it.
(A single general judgment of all people at one time is held by amillennialism. We hold multiple distinct judgments across the dispensational timeline: the bema for the church, the judgment of the nations at the second coming, and the Great White Throne for the lost after the millennium.)
