Does being called from the womb (Jeremiah 1:5) mean I was chosen for heaven?

SHORT ANSWER

No. Both verses that say it name what the womb-setting was for, and it's a mission, not salvation. Jeremiah was ordained a prophet; Paul was set apart to preach. The calling is to a work.

What the text states

"Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee... and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations" (Jeremiah 1:5). And Paul: God "separated me from my mother's womb... to reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the heathen" (Galatians 1:15-16). Both specify the mission: prophet, preacher.

The answer

Both verses name what was set from the womb, and in both it is the task, not the soul's destiny. Jeremiah: "ordained thee a prophet." Paul: "that I might preach him among the heathen." Commissions, both. And the men still responded, Jeremiah even resisted ("I cannot speak: for I am a child"), and Paul "conferred not with flesh and blood" but obeyed. If womb-calling meant automatic salvation, Paul's "I obtained mercy because I did it ignorantly in unbelief" would make no sense. God's foreknowledge of a life He will use is not a decree that bypasses the response. He knew the prophet He would raise; the prophet still had to answer.

What this means for you

God may know the shape of your life before you live it, and set you toward something before you can see it. That is His foreknowledge and His grace, not a guarantee that skips your coming to Christ. The setting-apart leads to the believing; it does not replace it.

What this does not prove

This does not deny that God forms and prepares people from the womb, He does. It denies only that womb-calling equals chosen for salvation.
